Did you know the Vincentia Golf Club opened 56 years ago this weekend! As the Club works hard toward securing its future for the whole community, join one of these celebrations and have a (golf) ball while contributing to raising funds. This Sunday 19 January is the birthday event at the Golf Club and Saturday 15 February will be a retro trivia night at Jervis Bay Brewing Co. Save the Date.

Despite its recent history of challenges, the Vincentia Golf Club is putting on a par-tee this weekend to celebrate their birthday. In January 1969, the Club was officially opened by Shire President, Cr J E Hatton – we hope to see John there on the weekend sharing some of his stories about the long history of the Club and the area!

This Sunday 19 January, come along to hear more stories about the early days of the Club and lend your support to its future. Members are invited to bring their photos and memorabilia to share.

Kings Porker food truck will be there from midday serving up delicious modern smoky bbq for lunch. Kids can have their face painted and play on the bouncing castle.

Social golf on the day will consist of Ambrose Team Games, which is a great format allowing people of all different abilities to play together. Everyone on the team tees off, then they pick the best shot for the group. Games will be $12 for members and $29 for non-members, and tee times can be booked online or at the Pro Shop in person or by calling (02) 4441 5621.

The Golfie was “back in business” from 1 January after it was shut down in August by the Board of the Country Club, following a “no” vote on a development proposal. While the Club’s main building remains closed for now, except for access to the toilets, there are plans afoot to re-establish more of the original amenities.

A de-amalgamation with the St Georges Basin Country Club is now in the works, and the future of the Vincentia Golf Club is yet to be certain. What is certain, for now, is the community spirit behind rebuilding the Club for our local community and visitors alike.

Save The Date – February Fundraiser

On Saturday 15 February, fundraising for the future of The Golfie will take a sharp turn into the fun-zone at the Jervis Bay Brewing Co, hosted by Friends of Vincentia Golf Club.

Par-Tee like it’s 1969 – and dress accordingly – for a Golf Trivia Night and Silent Auction, filled with great food and drinks, music and dancing, and even prizes!

FoVGC are calling for donations to the silent auction, such as any Vincentia Golf memorabilia, golf balls with special logos, special/antique golf clubs (not your seconds), golf clothing with logos. These can be dropped into the Pro Shop at the golf club ahead of the event.

FoVGC hopes this social event brings back fond memories of experiences and celebrations of Vincentia Golf Club and brings the community together.

Tickets are $40 which includes a meal and a drink voucher, and are on sale from Monday 20 January (18+ only). All funds raised will go towards the future club (post de-amalgamation.

Trivia teams will pay $5 cash per game, so gather up to six friends and register your team name on the night.

Do you need inspiration for your attire?

FoVGC has you covered with this advice.

  • Men: Think classic golf attire from the 1960s! Polo shirts, argyle sweaters, plaid pants, and golf caps. Don’t forget your vintage golf shoes or loafers. You can also go for a colourful tie-dye or loose-fitting shirt or velvet vest or why not go for bell-bottom jeans or a beret!
  • Women: Channel the 60s with colourful skirts, polo shirts, knee-high socks, and visors. You can also go for a chic retro dress with a fun pattern and top it off with a bee-hive hairdo!
  • Accessories: Feel free to add retro sunglasses, scarves, and other vintage accessories to complete your look.
