FRIDAY 19 JUNE: Our seaside hub is taking centre stage tomorrow morning as Channel Seven’s Sunrise broadcasts live from White Sands Park. It kicks off a massive winter weekend featuring a glowing solstice festival tonight, a fresh local food market tomorrow morning , and a taste of the region’s newly crowned champion cheeseburger.

A chef adds a garnish to the cheeseburger at the 5 Little Pigs food truck in Woollamia, Jervis Bay.

Things to do Right Now

Enjoy the early morning at the seaside village of Huskisson which is the star of Sunrise on Channel Seven from 7am-9.30am tomorrow, Saturday 20 June as the weather team crosses live from White Sands Park. Locals are welcome to support the Huskisson businesses who will be showcasing their latest events—Bay & Bush Jervis Bay’s working apiary, the Arts Muster Festival coming up in August, and this weekend’s Beer & BBQ Festival in the park. Of course, a visit to Huskisson would not be complete at this time of year without a whale watching tour, so the gang will be heading out on the 9.30am Jervis Bay Wild cruise from Huskisson Wharf. Hope to see you there!

Book a camping trip in our local gem, Booderee National Park which has just opened up bookings for sites this August. Camping sites such as Green Patch, Caves Beach and Bristol Point will book up quickly on a first come first served basis so it’s worth making plans now.

Buy local produce from around 20 providores at the Tomerong Food Hall this Saturday, 8am-1pm. Bring your shopping basket for organic produce, baked goods, sauces, gin, olives, treat yourself to brekkie /brunch from Colombian street food to sweet treats and more. Plus crochet, plants, books and treasures with music by Aria Stone.

Sign up to Sing Express winter women’s six-week program of workshops and a community performance in Milton on Tuesdays from 21 July and Tomerong on Thursdays from 23 July, 5.30-7pm. You don’t need any singing experience or be able to read music to join this joyous group of women singing songs in 3-part harmonies. Sign up for $95 for the full six weeks (free for women under 30) and warm your cockles with song this winter.

Order an award-winning burger from the 5 Little Pigs food truck at Jervis Bay Brewing Co—winners of “bragging rights” at the Battle of the Burgers last weekend at Husky Sports, wrapping up the Autumn Celebration of Food for 2026. Organised by the Shoalhaven Food Network, the judging panel tasted eight slider-sized entries to decide the winner, a classic cheeseburger by the Pigs, with aged beef from South Nowra Meats and delicious melted cheddar. Congratulations!

Gather round the fire tonight at Jervis Bay Brewing Co for their annual Winter Solstice Festival, including a milk crate circus, drumming workshop, swampy beats and live fire twirling. The celebrations start at 4pm today, and there are prizes for best dressed with the advice, “think pagan, druids, fire worship”!
