There’s something for every musical taste! We have a few sensational suggestions to help you find your groove.
Friday 10 January
How about a sunset session at Cupitt’s Estate in Ulladulla? From 5pm, hear the dulcet tones of guitarist/singer Joseph Gatehau while enjoying casual dining in the wine garden and soaking up the twilight settling over the landscape.
Musical duo Three Hours South are playing at the Sushi Martini Club in Huskisson tonight from 6pm, playing covers with a twist on guitar, harmonica, percussion and vocals. Kirsty and Shaun are crowd favourites up and down the coast, so let them entertain you tonight while enjoying an artful plate of sushi and a refreshing martini. Located in Jervis Bay Coffee Co on Owen Street – down the walkway from the lolly shop on the “water” side of the street.
DJ Nemesis is spinning at the Flamin Galah beer garden tonight from 5.30pm, in the Huskisson industrial zone. There’s always an unbeatable range of beverages on tap, plus food from The Nest food truck and of course, the unmistakable decor. Open from midday.
Saturday 11 January
Australia’s queen of soul, Emma Donovan is performing at Bundanon art museum from 5pm. Emma will sing from her new ARIA nominated album, Til My Song is Done, and she will be supported by South Coast Yuin choir Djinama Yilaga, with a breathtaking performance in Dhurga language. There will be a pop-up bar and snacks from 4pm, and the museum is open late till 6pm. Bring a picnic rug, tickets $45/36 available online.
Sunday 12 January
Horse Drawn Cadillac will play the blues and funk of New Orleans via Chicago at Cupitt’s Estate in Ulladulla from 12.30pm. These guys will have you dancing to their version of blues standards and their own home-grown musical gems. Think: harmonica, sax, pulsing rhythms and poetic lyrics. Highly recommended!
Victoria and Lindsay of We Mavericks will be at Jervis Bay Brewing Co from 4pm. This talented duo are multi-instrumental, vocalists and song writers who bring a contemporary folk vibe to the beer garden. We love watching Lindsay shred his fiddle!
Thursday 16 January
Head down to the Jervis Bay Maritime Museum for a twilight delight from 3pm. Anneliese Szota will set the mood with her sweet vocals and keyboard, followed by the Jazz Penguins at 5pm to get you grooving. Ola Chola Foodtruck will be serving delicious dinner onsite. This is a family friendly event around the pond, and the museum is open late too (entry fee applies).
Friday 17 January: Enjoy the lounge vibe of Dave Newman on guitar and vocals with a twilight tipple. Dave’s warm vocals and twinkle in his eye create the perfect ambience for a Friday eve, and sunset over the vineyards and river at Cupitt’s Estate in Ulladulla is never disappointing.
Saturday 18 January
Just over an hour’s drive from Huskisson is Bawley Vale Estate, a boutique winery and farm that is perfect for events. Next Saturday they are hosting Music on the Lawns, an afternoon of live music, food trucks and great beverages (no BYO). Tall Shaun’s gravelly blues will accompany you as you dine from the Nomad food truck. Gates open 3.30pm, $10 entry fee, bring a rug and a drinking vessel of your choice and pets on leads are welcome.
El Horses live music venue in Nowra
Always a fantastic line-up of acts at El Horses, a quirky live music venue in the Berry Street laneway Nowra (next to the Shoalhaven Regional Art Gallery), usually with a blues, reggae, soul and funk vibe, just the way we like it. Curated by musician George Bishop, upcoming acts include soul/folk/indie musician Robyn Martin on Friday 10 January, “strange and compelling” songwriter Tom Woodward on Thursday 23 January, and reggae beats favourites, Benji and the Saltwater Sound System on Friday 24 January.
