Markets – Almost Last Chance for Gift Shopping
Saturday 14 December is Callala Markets from 8am-1pm at the Emmett Street community centre. There will be extra-special goodies to help you celebrate the season, from gift ideas to great food.
Sunday 15 December is the last Pyree Village Art & Handmade Market, hosted by the Shoalhaven Potters, from 9am-1.30pm on Greenwell Point Road, next to the Pyree Village Hall. You will find ceramics, wood-crafts, artists’ books and paper crafts, homewares including lamp shades, unique clothing and more.
Thursdays are Farmers Market Days in Nowra and Berry, for some last-minute purchases for your holiday feasts, including fresh produce and meats, drinks, breads, mushrooms, eggs and chocolates, plants and flowers and maybe even a jar or two of something? That ham needs a sauce!

Paddle, Santa
It’s the annual Santa Paddle in Sussex Inlet on Saturday 14 December from midday till 4pm at the Swordfish Brewery – everyone’s invited, adults, kids and dogs, on a kayak, canoe or SUP, to raise money for the Sussex Marine Rescue. There will be loads of games and prizes on the water – like Santa jousting – and off, including best dressed. Your $15/$10 ticket includes a bbq lunch and live music.
Break a Record, Santa
Dry (or dust) off your red suit and rock up to the Jervis Bay Brewing Co this Saturday as they attempt to break the record for the “Most Santas in a Brewery”.
Be there at 4pm on Saturday 14 December for the official count. There will be loads of prizes, raffles and specials, and proceeds will go to support the Huskisson RFS.
Big Tuna Opening Celebration
This is a concept/destination/community/celebration that Jervis Bay has been waiting for and it’s happening this Sunday at Big Tuna in the Husky industrial zone (8 Snapper Road). Big Tuna is something for people who like to catch fish, eat fish, swim with fish and get together with other people who love fish.
See what it’s all about at their grand opening, from midday this Sunday, including loads of food, great giveaways and prizes, and activities for the kids.
We look forward to Big Tuna’s vision for their watery community, including DIY, cooking, gear, vehicles, skills and so much more.

Campfire Circle Wednesdays
Join local First Nations cultural custodians Gadhungal Marring at the Paperbark Camp every Wednesday from now till the end of January (except Christmas Day), for storytelling, smoking ceremony and sharing of indigenous cultural knowledge. For $75, including light refreshments, this 75-minute experience is a mid-week gem from 5pm. Bookings essential as places are limited.
Meteor Showers This Weekend
The Geminids are back over the southern skies, and the best way to see them is on an after-dark tour with our local astrophysicist from Jervis Bay Stargazing, Dimitri Douchin. They are running a special tour on Saturday 14 December, 10.15pm at Plantation Point. Book online to see this sky spectacular.

Friday 13 December
You’ll be dancing in your chair this Friday from 6pm at Husky’s Sushi Martini Club on Owen Street with the smooth acoustic sounds of South Coast favourite, Bryan Howson. Try a house-special espresso martini as the sun goes down over the Bay.
The sweet sounds of Tayah Larsen will be heard at Sandbar Restaurant on Hawke Street Huskisson from 5pm. Sample a sundowner cocktail and something to share from the charcuterie menu to ease yourself into the weekend.
Saturday 14 December
Martini Henrys at Flamin Galah, this ‘alternative’ acoustic duo entertain from Sydney to Canberra, and it’s our turn to flamin listen from 5pm in the Huskisson industrial zone, while enjoying a house-made ginger beer with a fresh batch now on tap and in cans
Sunday 15 December
Amy and I at Cupitt’s Estate Sunday Sessions in Ulladulla. The acoustic folk duo of Simon Kinch and Amy Robinson will captivate you with their guitars, keys and harmonies, from 12.30pm. Book a table online for lunch.
Will Chittick at Jervis Bay Brewing Co, from 4pm, offers smooth vocals and a chilled. Vibe, perfect for a lazy afternoon to round off the weekend.
Plan Ahead
Conscious Dance & South Bathing: Move your body to the rhythms of the elements, then find a comfy position for a sound bathing experience, with Dance Tribe South Coast at the Tomerong Hall on Thursday 19 December from 7pm ($25). This is a wonderful way to centre yourself for the festive season.
Bunya Christmas Market: Head to the Vincentia Shopping Village on Friday 20 December for a family-friendly Christmas market hosted by Bunya Wholefoods (off the top carpark on Excellent Street). The lovely lawns outside the shop will be a fun place for face painting and tree decorating, Santa will pay a visit, and there will be plenty of gifts and food items to purchase, from 9am to midday. There are still a few spots available for stallholders but be quick.
Jervis Bay Brewing Co 5th Birthday: It’s hard to believe, but Saturday 21 December will be the 5th birthday of one of our local favourites, Jervis Bay Brewing Co. This institution of the Husky industrial zone has cemented its place as a beloved watering hole, community hub, trivia venue, open mic host and purveyor of fine beverages. Help them to celebrate this milestone with a fun family day from midday.
Twilight Market: Saturday 21 December will be the Tomerong Markets in the morning, 8am-1.30pm followed by a special Twilight Market at the Nowra Showgrounds Pavilion, from 4pm-9pm. This will be an extra special market, the last of the year and just days from Christmas, you will find loads of ideas for gifts including hand-made and home-grown, plus plenty of food and snacks to eat while you browse.
Then Sunday 22 December will be the final Berry Village Market for the year, with your last chance to find unique, beautiful gifts for everyone plus loads of fresh and specialty food and drink. Mark your calendars now!
Bands on the Bay: Vincentia Sailing Club teams up with Jervis Bay Brewing Co for a sensational pop-up bar with live music, food trucks and the sea – you can dunk yourself right in the water at Barfleur Beach and still hear the sweet music from Bands on the Bay performing under the giant shade sail. Starts 27 December with folk/indie/rock duo, Blue Mallee. Till 5 January.
