Perfect Weather for the 20th Husky Tri, and What Else is On in Jervis Bay

Jervis Bay is turning on perfect weather – no rain and temps in the mid to high 20s – for this weekend’s 20th anniversary of the Husky Tri. The organisers are also putting on a fireworks display over the Bay in Husky on Saturday night, so pack a picnic blanket and enjoy the show.

Halloran Art Prize on Show

The second annual Halloran Contemporary Art Prize exhibition is on now at the Jervis Bay Maritime Museum, featuring works selected for their response to the Halloran collection of maritime art and artifacts. The acquisitive $20,000 first place was awarded to Central Coast artist Chris Leaver for his multimedia sculptural piece Blow the Wind Southerly. Second place $8,000 prize was awarded to Shoalhaven artist Anna Glynn for her photomontage “…Here between the hither and the farther shore…” The $2,000 People’s Choice Award voting is now open, and you can pick up a voting form from the front desk. Entry to the museum is $12.50/$10/free for under 16s with an adult.

Sculpture Exhibition at ArtScape

New Spaces is an exhibition of sculpture and installation from 30 women artists this weekend only, 10am-5pm Friday 21 till Sunday 23 February at ArtScape, 481 Illaroo Road Bangalee, on the road to the Bundanon Art Museum. There will be an opening at 2pm on the Saturday where you can learn about the curators’ inspiration behind the show. Read more in our story this week by Natalie McDonagh.

Jervis Bay Arts Trail

There are seven open studios on the new Jervis Bay Arts Trail this Saturday 22 February, including painters and photographers. Visit the website for addresses and contact details of the participating artists, who will be open from 11am-2pm.

Berry Village Market

One of the region’s favourite markets, the Berry Village Market is on this Sunday 23 February 10am-3pm at the Berry Bowlo. Browse loads of stalls including fresh produce, arts and crafts, clothing and homewares.

Plan Ahead: International Women’s Day

There are many community activities and events on to commemorate International Women’s Day on 8 March, including a program run by IWD Shoalhaven, a morning tea organised by Vincentia Matters, and celebratory meals at local establishments.
