About Rae Woolnough
Rae’s love of art and textiles has been a life long interest, from sewing her first garment at eight years of age to designing and making her own wedding dress, there has always been a connection with textiles and design.
She has studied photography, life drawing, painting, interior design, ceramics, graphic design and Fine Arts at University. Rae discovered felting fourteen years ago. Since then she has experimented and researched felt making, exploring new and different techniques.
She prefers working with natural products such as fine merino wool, alpaca and silk and is on a constant quest to find beautiful yarns to use as embellishments in her artworks.
“Everyone has a guilty pleasure – mine is possessing beautiful yarns. I must have them like some people must have shoes!”
Rae lives in Cooranbong in the Lake Macquarie District north of Sydney, where her art studio backs onto a natural bushland reserve. An essential part of her art making process is the planning, mostly done sitting on the studio verandah, drinking tea, and soaking up her surroundings.
Rae has exhibited her work in solo and group exhibitions at galleries throughout Australia. Her artworks are held in collections throughout Australia and Internationally. She has also featured in Season 4, Ep 4 of the international arts television program, Put Some Colour in Your Life.

About Fiona Hammond
Fiona is a textile artist based in Lake Bathurst, NSW. Fiona loves combining mediums and techniques to create her own textile, jewellery and sculptural pieces – usually with a contemporary feel. She has loved making jewellery since the early ‘80s when she made jewellery for a living. In more recent years she has found that quilting and other textile-related arts – particularly beading onto fabric – fulfil her lifelong love of fabric.
“My creative play includes vibrant colour, texture, plus a dash of humour, mystery, and fun! Teaching my workshops brings me great joy.”
Since 2013 coiled basketry techniques have featured more and more in her creative output, including jewellery, vessels, wall pieces and sculptural forms. She works mainly with colourful tapestry wool due to the wide range of colour options it affords, but she sometimes works with more traditional basketry materials such as raffia.
Fiona’s quilts, beadwork and textile art creations have appeared in several Australian magazines. Her work has also been seen in exhibitions and has won numerous awards and prizes.
