Enjoy a few days of sunshine coming up by heading out and about in Jervis Bay, supporting local businesses and basking in our beautiful coastal environment. Scroll down for a few ticketed events that you can plan ahead for now.

Great weather for markets

Milton Village Showground market is on this Saturday 3 August, with stalls offering everything from artisanal foods to dog coats, and everything in between. From 9-2.30pm, browse leisurely around the showgrounds, there’s also plenty of food to eat for breakfast (donuts anyone?) and lunch while you’re there.

Saturday is also the day for the Jervis Bay Maritime Museum markets, spread around the lovely bushland gardens. From 10-2pm in the cooler weather, which means the museum is also open, and worth a visit right now for some fantastic local exhibitions and the permanent collection, $12.50/$10/free for kids u16.

Sunday 4 August is the Culburra Beach Market, from 8-2pm on Fred Evans Lane. Brought to you by the Nowra Makers Market Committee.

Two Trails with a Difference

Saturday 3 August is the monthly Currarong Art Trail, walk around the village and visit the studios of local artists, who present a wonderful range of styles, techniques and materials. Hop online for a map and more info about the artists who will have their studios open from 10-2pm.

For those planning nuptials, this Saturday’s Wedding Fair Trail is showcasing stunning venues from Kiama to Milton, perfect for the special day. The fair at Pyree is a presentation of suppliers, a goodie bag and a magazine. All the details and maps are on their website.

The Sounds of Bundanon

More musical magic is afoot from artists-in-residence at Bundanon (did you read about the sounds of wombat poop?) with three performances on the calendar this August.

It starts with a Listening Party inside the art museum on Saturday 10 August at 2pm ($12/$18/free for members). Immerse yourself in an atmospheric soundscape created by Joe Wilson and Chanelle Collier using recordings made around the property, played along with distorted guitar and voice. Intriguing.

The following day, hear the landscape through a cello with Richard Narroway playing works by Australian composers Peter Sculthorpe and Ross Edwards, $12/$18/free for members, from 1.15pm in the art museum.

PhycoHealth in circular food story

If you missed Landline on Sunday 21 July, here’s the recap: a circular economy minimises or eliminates “waste” and the Bega Valley is working very hard to achieve this to become a blueprint for Australia. Our local seaweed scientist extraordinaire, Dr Pia Winberg, was also featured on the program – read her thoughts on this environmental concept and check out the whole Landline story.

Pop in to the PhycoHealth factory warehouse in Huskisson industrial zone to shop for food, skin care and seaweed chocolate.
