FRIDAY 27 FEBRUARY: It looks like we’re in for a slightly soggy weekend and a wet start to the week, but don’t let a few raindrops keep you under the covers. Whether you’re a “part-fish” type who doesn’t mind a rainy swim or someone who prefers to stay high and dry, we’ve rounded up the best weather-appropriate ways to spend your leisure time. From soul-soothing music to indoor markets, there is plenty of local magic happening right across the Shoalhaven to keep your spirits bright.

What to do right now
Tonight, at Darling House Deli enjoy the easy-listening lounge music by none other than Dave Newman. We are great fans of Dave and always try to come along when he heads up to Jervis Bay for a gig. Settle in to an evening at the Deli, on the water-side of Owen Street Huskisson and next to Boobook book shop, from 5.30pm.
Donate to The Rock and help our local Shoalhaven First Nations Film Festival fund a new film into production. Help reach the goal of $12,000 to assist in the production of a short film based on an original story retold by Luke McLeod-Ebsworth, a young Koori dancer and storyteller, with the script developed in collaboration with media-creative, Julie Cunningham. The Rock is an intergenerational story, based on historical events. The plot is a poignant, witty narrative of a First Nations encounter with white-man’s law, which crosses historical and contemporary settings. Filming is set to commence on 30 March with the casting call revealing lots of hidden talent! Stay tuned for updates.
Apply for a stall at the upcoming Huskisson Artisans Markets. The organisers have invited makers, artists and providores to consider presenting their wares at this popular indoor market that is organised by artisans for artisans. The application is open to a broad range of makers producing quality, hand crafted items—such as textiles, ceramics, jewellery, accessories, decorative objects, toys, paper products, as well as visual artists and providores producing artisanal food and beverages. Apply before 23 March for the 26 April event. Stall fees start at $50.
Sign up for a wellness session at one of our local bushland properties, Worrowing on the Wool Road and Bay & Bush Retreat in Woollamia. Sample their friendly, welcoming classes in yoga, meditation, sound bathing, qigong and pilates, while experiencing the natural beauty of their bush settings in the gentle rainfall. Classes start from around $25.
See a Nominated Film, at Husky Pictures’ Academy Awards Film Fest. Get in the Oscars spirit with a screening of six films in the running for an Academy Award. Vote for the local people’s favourite for your chance to win a year’s membership to the iconic local movie house. Pick up a voting form when you come to see one of the six films including The Secret Agent and Sentimental Value, with ticket prices at $12.50 for one movie and $57 for 5 movies. Saturday 28 February, Visit Artists’ Studios: From 10am, cruise around the region and visit some practising artists in the natural environment, aka the home studio, on the Jervis Bay Arts Trail. Find out who’s open and how to find them, till 3pm, on their website.
Saturday 28 February, Working Bee for Wildlife: Mudgeroo Wombat & Wildlife Refuge currently has a record number of animals in their care and they are asking for volunteers to help out with gardening, such as transplanting grasses and digging in compost, as well as help to maintain the animal enclosures. The property on Jervis Bay Road will provide morning tea and lunch. BYO garden gloves, hat, water bottle and wear old clothes and enclosed shoes. If you have your own a shovel, pitchfork or wheelbarrow please bring those. RSVP with your names and any dietary requirements via DM to Wildlife Stations Shoalhaven or Mudgeroo. This working bee is going ahead in any weather.
Saturday 28 February, Indoor Markets: Head to the pavilion for the Nowra Showground Markets, an indoor event featuring hand made and home grown items as well as food to eat there including breakfast, donuts and coffee. Lots of parking, enter via West Street Nowra.
Saturday 28 February, Painted Colour: Birrang is an exhibition of painted colour by Wiradjuri man Moth Yamnaha, in Milton. inspired by the beauty of Yuin Country; from the dense bushlands that stretch from the mountains to the sea, to the abundance of wildlife that never ceases to amaze, each piece is a depiction of the wonderful colours seen within the flora and fauna that surround us. RSVP to the opening night of art installation hosted at Wyld Spaces (yoga studio) in Milton, 5pm-8pm.
Saturday 28 February – Sunday 1 March, Sow Good Ulladulla: The Yumaro Nursery & Garden Centre is hosting a 2-day festival of workshops, music, art and nature at their Ulladulla location, 10am-2pm each day. Sow Good is a free event for the community that is a collaboration with other local businesses, including GWYLO, Our Town and Community Connects.
Sunday 1 March, Clean Up Australia Day: Check out the online guide to join a cleaning crew on the South Coast at this annual event that aims to encourage people to be responsible with their waste every day of the year and help protect our natural resources. Enter your postcode on the Cleanup Australia site to find a clean up near you, or if you are very motivated, you can use the site to register a clean up.
Tuesday 3 March, Clogging Classes: Join the Amethyst Park Stompers on Tuesday nights for beginner clogging classes at Tomerong Hall. Class is $15 and starts at 6pm. Check out their Facebook page for some inspirational video from this class!
Thursday 5 March, Seniors Morning Tea: Come along to the Hub at Vincentia Shopping Village on Burton Street to celebrate Seniors Week. Thanks to the Vincentia Connections committee, rsvp via email for this free morning tea (for catering purposes). Local artists Karen Cunningham and James Wei will give a talk about their art practice and works on display, followed by some traditional Irish music from the Jervis Bay Slow Sessions group.
Thursday 5 March-Saturday 7 March, Live Arts Event: Improbable Solace is a live arts event offering calm, contemplative care and attention for your mind and heart. This immersive art installation and original music come to you as a gift from artist Dr Natalie McDonagh and musician Deborah Grahame. Come, dwell a while in this intimate, tactile, sensory space, attended by the artist. The five part installation—Arrive . Inhabit . Navigate . Mend . Thursday 5 March – Sunday 8 March, Long Swim Jervis Bay: See Jervis Bay from a unique perspective on an 18km swim hugging the coastline from Murrays Beach all the way to Huskisson over three days, with a point-to-point swim each morning and culminating in a sausage sizzle at Plantation Point on Saturday 9.30-11.30am with Marine Rescue Jervis Bay. Friday 6 March, International Women’s Day Morning Tea Vincentia: Come along to the Hub at Vincentia Shopping Village on Burton Street to commemorate International Women’s Day with a morning tea. Please rsvp via email for this free events (for catering purposes).
Friday 6 March – Sunday 8 March, Milton Show: Another fantastic regional agricultural show, the 3-day Milton Show this year has the theme of ‘Life in the Garden’. The organisers also promise you will be in for a treat on the Sunday, with the Championship Dog Show and Ute & Auto Show both on that day.
Saturday 7 March, Women Speak: As part of the International Women’s Day Shoalhaven program, a panel of women from health, legal and social backgrounds will discuss what barriers remain to further improvements in women’s lives. Saturday 7 March, Music at Old Salt: The boutique distillery, bar and restaurant in South Nowra, Old Salt Distillery is launching live music on Saturday afternoons, starting with Laine Wolfe, billed as “seasoned one-woman band, weaving voice, guitar and a well-worn suitcase drum into rich and lively rhythmic performances”. Old Salt’s bar and restaurant will be open every Friday in March from 12pm to 9pm, and most Saturdays from 12pm to 4pm, check their trading hours page to be sure before you visit.
Saturday 7 March – Sunday 8 March, New Exhibition at Bundanon: The opening weekend of Sky, Earth Water by Rosalie Gascoigne exploring her deep connection to the material landscape, alongside significant new commissions by leading First Nations artists Lorraine Connelly-Northey, Janet Fieldhouse and Glenda Nicholls is on at the Bundanon Art Museum in Illaroo (about an hour’s drive from Huskisson). There will be live music, artist talks, and free entry to the museum across the weekend, and you can rsvp online.

Friday 13 March, More Speed Dating: Flamin Galah brew-pub in the Woollamia industrial zone is inviting 45-60s to a night of speed dating. Tickets are $28 for a round of 16 mini dates and a drink on arrival, starting at 6.30pm.
Saturday 14 March, St Paddy’s Day In Jervis Bay: The rousing fiddle and lyrical voices of Lindsay Martin and Victoria Vigenser will make this a St Paddy’s Day eve to rejoice at Jervis Bay Brewing Co from 2pm. To aid the celebrations, the Taproom will be serving $7 schooners of a new Irish stout. Wear something green and head out to the Woollamia industrial zone.
Saturday 14 March, Women Performing: As part of International Women’s Day celebrations for 2026, a special concert for women, by women is on at Tomerong Hall, $10/$5. Arrive by 6pm to enjoy food by Claude’s Kitchen, with performances starting at 7pm.
Friday 20 March, Bach in the Museum: Music in the Regions is touring another internationally acclaimed classical performance, by Bach Akademie Australia who bring the musical story of J.S. Bach to life, including his famous Concerto for two violins in D minor and some special arias for soprano. Tickets are $40 (under 18s are free but need to reserve a seat) for this performance at the Jervis Bay Maritime Museum, starting at 6.30pm. There will also be performances in Berry and Ulladulla on this tour.
Saturday 21 March, Jazz in KV: Hear the swing sounds and slow ballads of Sydney jazz vocalist Kate Wadey, supported by some of Australia’s top jazz musicians, performing at Kangaroo Valley Hall from 5pm, tickets $40/$30/$20. Kate will perform some well-known jazz standards alongside original compositions. Doors open 4.30pm and drinks and light refreshments will be available.
Saturday 21 March, Makers Market: The destination is the Bundanon Art Museum in Illaroo – about 50min drive from Huskisson – for one of their Makers Markets, 9am-3pm. This is a lovely way to explore the property while supporting independent makers and artists.
Friday 3 April – Monday 6 April, Bands on the Bay: The twice-annual collab between Vincentia Sailing Club and Jervis Bay Brewing Co is on again for the Easter weekend at Plantation Point, 12pm-8pm daily. Check the full schedule for live music and food trucks and prepare for a cruisy weekend kicking back by the Bay.
Thursday 23 April, Movie Night for Cancer Research: Buy a ticket to a special screening of romcom, You, Me & Tuscany for $25 in support of the Mothers Day Classic, raising funds for cancer research. Sponsored by Husky Bakery, your ticket includes a drink and a treat plus entry into a lucky door prize. The team behind the Huskisson fundraising promises a fun night starting at 6.30pm (film starts at 7pm).
Sunday 10 May, Mother’s Day Classic: One for your diary: the annual Mother’s Day Classic, the nationwide event that raises funds for breast and ovarian cancer research, is turning 10 in Huskisson this year. There will be 3km, 5km or 10km walks/ runs as well as family-friendly events in and around White Sands Park. Get in early, register your participation and start hitting up your family and friends for support.
