FRIDAY 16 JANUARY: From luminous folk-pop afternoons at Flamin Galah and Bundanon to the bustling Tomerong Food Hall, we’ve got your Jervis Bay weekend guide sorted. Plus, don’t miss a world-record unicycle attempt in Milton and two options for a restorative wellness session on Sunday.

Saturday 17 January, Food Markets: Tomerong Food Hall is open in the community centre from 8am-1.30pm offering a fantastic range of local produce as well as an open-air café area and entertainment. Support local and stock up on great food and beverages, don’t forget your shopping basket.
Saturday 17 January, Folk-pop at Bundanon: Experience a Summer afternoon of luminous folk-pop by Lisa Mitchell, and the dreamy, alt-country sounds of Babitha, in the Boyd Education Centre at the Bundanon Art Museum, starting at 4pm. Tickets are $65/$55/$50 and there are optional shuttle buses available, pre-booking essential.
Saturday 17 January, High Wire + Jazz: For a unique combination of entertainment, watch the film Steady – a world-record attempt at a unicycle ride on a highwire – with some live music performed by jazz sensation Lux Trevis, at the Milton Theatre from 7.30pm, tickets $45. After the film, director Divya Gordon will answer Q&A then the full 8-piece band will play again, diving into Afro-Brazilian, roots/reggae and jazz for you to dance the night away.

Sunday 18 January, Sunday Sessions Live Music: Start your Sunday music journey with the Jackie B Trio at Cupitt’s Estate in Ulladulla from 12.30pm. Their fusion of cool rock, folk and alt-country is a fantastic soundtrack for a casual lunch.
Indie folk-pop duo Jack + Georgie aka Jack Willis and Georgie Lyons bring their sweet sound to the craft brewery, Flamin Galah from 3pm, a great spot for a late lunch from The Nest food truck while you sample the special creations of head brewer Sam Hewson.
Ness Quinn brings her lush vocals and rhythmic guitar to Jervis Bay Brewing Co’s family-friendly beer garden from 4pm, where you can wind down with some delicious snacks from the 5 Little Pigs food truck and sample some fresh craft beers.
Amp it up with a sunset cocktail on the rooftop at Bannisters Pavilion in Mollymook with the vibes created by the jazz sensation Lux Trevis.
Sunday 18 January, Restore Yourself: We have two recommendations for a Sunday afternoon restorative self-care session. If long holds on gentle poses for the kind of deep relaxation and stillness that yoga can bring, book into a Restorative yoga session at Worrowing from 4pm, $25. Held in their new venue, Melaleuca with a beautiful outlook over bushland, the class uses props for support.
If your idea of a nervous system reset involves lying still while a sound bathing practitioner creates sound waves for deep relaxation, then head to the Bay & Bush wellness centre in Woollamia, The Nest for a sound bath at 4pm, $29.
Tuesday 20 January, Art Café in Sussex: Release your inner creative with guidance from artist Jenny McIntosh at Art Café Sussex Inlet. Held at Ellmoos Hall on Jacobs Drive, this two-hour art experience from 10am includes morning tea, while you create an original artwork in pen and watercolour wash, $50 (byo materials) or $55.

Wednesday 21 January, Bee Keeping: This is your chance to become a Beekeeper for a Day at Bay & Bush nature retreat in Woollamia for one of two morning sessions, starting at 9am or 11am. This is a hands-on, nature-immersive beekeeping experience with honey tastings amongst the Australian bush for ages 16+, $250.
Thursday 22 January Museum Summer Sessions: The place to be on Thursdays in January is around the pond at the Jervis Bay Maritime Museum, where our favourite local musicians will set the sunset vibe at the Summer Sessions from 3pm-7pm. This Thursday, grab a drink from the Museum bar and an early dinner from the food trucks. Annaliese Szota is performing 3pm-5pm followed by Paul Greene at 5pm-7pm. Family Gozleme will be serving delicious traditional gozleme and Coastal Swirls will be there for desert.
Monday 26 January, Walking Together: The Resistance & Resilience event at Harry Sawkins Park will start at 10am with a smoking ceremony and welcome, and all are encouraged to bring a picnic rug, chair, plenty of water and find some shade. Throughout the day till 2pm there will be entertainment by Koori performers, and elders tent, panel discussions, artists’ market stalls, kids’ activities and more. This is an alcohol free event by the Shoalhaven Walking Together Alliance.
At Moona Moona Creek Reserve in Huskisson, cultural custodians Gadhungal Marring will start the day at 9am with a smoking ceremony and welcome, followed by performances and stories, while the Marine Rescue Jervis Bay will host the annual Duck Derby. Read more about these events in our story.
Sunday 25 January, Irish Session: If you love traditional Irish music, come along to a session at The Hub, shop 14 Vincentia Village (2 doors up from The Local café) from 3pm-5pm. All instruments and singers are welcome, music is provided on the day and BYO snacks.
Friday 30 January, Flamin Speed Dating: The craft brewery Flamin Galah is almost sold out of spots for its first speed dating event for singles aged 30-45. For $20, you get a welcome drink, 5-minute meets and a 15-minute break halfway through the 2-hour session that starts at 6.30pm. If you feel like it’s time to ditch the apps, this IRL mixer might be the antidote you seek.
Saturday 28 February, Get in the Spirit: The Spirits of Jervis Bay Festival is on again at the Husky Pub and White Sands Park, starting at midday and showcasing the South Coast’s finest distillers, food trucks serving up delicious snacks, and live music by the Bay. Tickets are now on sale, $22.49 includes bf.
Friday 20 March, Bach in the Museum: Music in the Regions is touring another internationally acclaimed classical performance, by Bach Akademie Australia who bring the musical story of J.S. Bach to life. Tickets are $40 for this performance at the Jervis Bay Maritime Museum, starting at 6.30pm. There will also be performances in Berry and Ulladulla on this tour.
