Friday 10 January: Want to lend your support to our local community this summer? Start with these simple ideas, such as a visit to Vincentia Golf Course, adding your voice about community spaces in a survey, or cleaning up our beaches after the summer rush with Woebegone Freedivers. Plus what markets are on around the South Coast this weekend!
Vincentia golf course is alive with a wonderful flow of social golf enjoying the greens again since a reopening celebration on 1 January. Tee times and snacks are available from the pro shop, and there’s plenty of shady seating on the deck. Head up for a social game, or simply enjoy the serenity! We will keep you posted on further developments.
Community Spaces
Provide your feedback on 25 community facilities across the Shoalhaven in this Council survey about our open spaces – including Hyams Beach Reserve, Plantation Point Reserve in Vincentia, White Sands and Voyager Park in Huskisson and Moona Moona Creek Reserve. The survey is open to residents and visitors alike, and will help Council with a strategic plan to maintain these vital assets for everyone.
Clean Up with Woebegone
Join a clean-up this Sunday 9 January from 9am at Plantation Point, organised by Woebegone Freedive Tours along the beaches and into the waters of Nelsons and Barfleur. Woebegone rightly point out that this Christmas/New Year period has been one of the busiest for tourism in recent memory and these beaches are in need of some TLC. The organisers are running a little competition to see who can collect the most lead sinkers from the water – so bring your dive gear along with gloves and a bag. Woebegone repurposes the sinkers by melting them down into freediving weight blocks!
