A week of cultural events to keep you entertained in Jervis Bay

FRIDAY 13 JUNE: “Discover the Streets of Huskisson & Beyond” is on this weekend, across the heart of Jervis Bay. There will be street food, entertainment and a festive atmosphere from 4pm Saturday followed by the second annual Burger Battle from 11am on Sunday. Come along and Eat, Sip and Stroll to the Beats. We are especially looking forward to the Middle Eastern Feast at Sandbar Restaurant on Hawke Street Huskisson plus the Flavours of India at Taj Restaurant on Owen Street Huskisson, both from 6pm on Saturday.

And that’s a wrap on the fourth annual Autumn Celebration of Food, created by the volunteer team and members of the Shoalhaven Food Society – congratulations to all the hospitality venues, artists, musicians, and of course the chefs and producers. What an impressive seven-week long festival it was, featuring around 80 special events that showcased the faces and the places of the Shoalhaven’s world-class hospitality sector.

Open Field Art Fest

Berry is hosting the second biennial Open Field arts festival this weekend, in a variety of unconventional venues throughout the town. Many of the exhibits and events are free, alongside some paid workshops. As well as exhibitions, the festival presents panels, workshops, performances, street art, and a powerful First Nations program at its heart. See the full program here.

Meet the Artist

Jervis Bay artist Roselle Stretton is opening her new show, Road Trip, at the Cambewarra Estate Winery & Gallery on Saturday 14 June at midday. Come along to meet the artist and find out about her inspiration behind these works while enjoying a glass of something, and why not stay for lunch. Road Trip is a visual snapshot of the Victorian landscape witnessed as passing through communities. Artwork is for sale, and Cambewarra Estate serves lunch in the restaurant Friday-Sunday, 11am-4pm, booking a table is recommended. Roselle’s show is open weekends till 29 June.

Stitching For Wellbeing

Join artist and facilitator, Natalie McDonagh, Wednesday 18 June, 11am and every Wednesday till 30 July. Vincentia Connections Community Hub, Vincentia Shopping Village Burton Street.

If you’d welcome an easy, effective way to calm mind and body, and improve your wellbeing, these community sessions are for you. Join artist and facilitator Dr Natalie McDonagh who will help you get started. If you are already a stitcher, let her help you deepen the activity as a simple, gentle form of meditation with all the benefits this offers. No bookings required. First come first served. Max 20 places. Materials provide. Entry by volunteer donation, funds raised support high school students to attend Arts Muster two-day creative workshops in Huskisson, 23-24 August 2025.

Latte Art Competition

Head to South Nowra on Wednesday 18 June for a coffee-lovers competition to choose the best creator of Latte Art. Hosted by those bean-roasting experts, The Bearded Brewer along with Franks Espresso Bar, what a great way to spice up your mid week, from 5.30pm at 1/5 Investigator Street. Entry is free, the Nomad food truck will be in attendance – so dinner is sorted – and there will be plenty of tastings and prizes.

Conscious Dance & Sound Healing

Tomerong Hall is the venue for Conscious Dance and Sound Healing to mark the winter solstice, 7pm-9pm on Thursday 19 June. Join Sonia and Katie who will guide you through music and dance to warm up your body, get your blood moving, and bathe in healing sounds from crystal singing bowls and other instruments. Mark the turning of the earth on the shortest day of the year, all welcome 16+, book online or pay at the door $30.

The Salt Path Movie Event

Highly recommended movie, The Salt Path is showing at Husky Pictures on Thursday 19 June. This moving drama is about a couple who lose their home and later discover the husband has been diagnosed with a terminal illness as they embark on a year-long coastal trek. Tickets available at the box office in the foyer, starts at 4pm.
