Vincentia now has its very own Thai massage clinic, Be Relax, which is giving new life to one of the empty retail spaces in the Burton Street shopping village. I met the husband-and-wife team behind the new business to find out what’s on offer.

Opening day, 5 September, was a special day for May and Bee, who wanted everything to be perfect for their new business, and it’s obvious in the workmanship and detail in each of their four private treatment rooms at Be Relax. Moreso, for Thai people, it’s important to select a significant date to open a new business – they chose teachers and academics day. Both May and Bee studied for a Bachelor of Psychology in Thailand, so this day seems well-suited for them.

Bee qualified as a Thai massage therapist back in her home city Chiang Mai northern Thailand and she continued her training on arriving in Sydney 2014 and over the past decade, she has expanded her skills, becoming a qualified remedial therapist.

When asked about the most popular treatments, Bee mentioned the traditional Thai massage, organic coconut oil massage, and body scrub with hot towels.

I chose the foot reflexology on my first visit and left with very happy, relaxed feet, and I especially enjoyed a refreshing cup of Jasmine tea.

Be Relax offers a variety of massage therapies and a range of packages tailored to your unique needs. They use Australian organic oils and Thai therapeutic balms to ensure top-quality care.

As for their journey to Australia, May and Bee had always envisioned moving here for work opportunities and Australia’s offer of a better quality of life. May first experienced Australia for a year at 18, helping his grandmother and her friend open a couple of restaurants in Darwin. In 2014, Bee and May were invited by a friend to move to Sydney, and three years ago they chose Jervis Bay – somewhere they had long wanted to visit – thanks to a chef exchange opportunity.

While Bee is currently the sole therapist at Be Relax, May is behind the scenes working as executive sous chef at The Huskisson Hotel. They are confident they will soon find the right therapists who share Bee’s high standards of professionalism and ethics, to join Be Relax.
