Mum’s the word. She’s the multitasker, giving endless support and love, the one who has everyone covered before herself, so for this Mother’s Day, Jervis Bay Weekend has got you covered with some fabulous ideas for treating the superhero we call mum.

Whether you’re planning to dine out or opting for a cosy celebration at home with a delicious grazing platter or hamper, there’s plenty of ideas to choose from.

With the rain still so heavy and downpours expected to continue, a cozy option sounds ideal.

Start the day with a Breakfast Buffet plus glass of sparkling for $25 at Club Jervis Bay, 8 Currambene St, Huskisson. The usual brekkie fare will be plentiful from 8-11am, both cooked and fruit/yoghurt with a coffee & tea station – or amp it up to an espresso from the in-house barista. This is surely one of the most spectacular locations for brekkie on the Bay, so please book ahead on (02) 4441 5282.

If you miss out, there’s always lunch in the bistro, with the new winter menu now up and running, including the specials presented daily.

Possibly the best Mothers Day breakfast table in Huskisson is at Club Jervis Bay.

If that’s too early, try an unforgettable three-course lunch with mum at Sandbar Restaurant, 9 Hawke Street Huskisson, bookings available from midday. Brand-new chef Jason has hit the ground running for this special day, applying his creative skills to this special menu that comes with a drink on arrival. It’s time to book, while tables are still available.

What about lobster, smoked salmon and a cocktail aptly named Mamma Mia, from Italian eatery Peter & Eva, the home of Italian culinary excellence in the heart of Huskisson, 2/52 Owen St. This fabulous special menu is offered for two sittings on Mothers Day, lunch 11 till 2pm and dinner 5 to 9pm. Jump online to book your spot at this very popular restaurant.

Keep it casual and outdoor (or take it home to your place, weather dependant), Pasta Buoy has all day long $7 spritz with their full fresh homemade pasta menu. There will be live music from Erin Badman from 12-3pm plus a bonus Mothers Day raffle for a hamper valued at $300. If that’s not reason enough to leave the house, you can order online.

Talking Italian, another local family favourite, La Vespa in Vincentia is offering three courses for $50pp created by ex-chef to Silos Winery, Coen Lawrence, who is now a permanent fixture with the team. Let them know any dietary requirements when you book, on (02) 4441 6651.

If staying in is what you’re thinking – and who could blame you in this weather – then book ahead for a creative box of goodies to spoil your beautiful Mum, from Jervis Bay Grazing. There’s plenty to choose from, peruse the options online, such as a sweet grazing box or high tea, $70 each, brekky grazing box $65 or choc coated strawberries $25.

A little further south this Sunday, you will find Island Sushi picnic on Swan Lake from 11am (near Sussex Inlet). The team from the Island Sushi food van will be slinging sushi bowls till 2pm, including salmon, California, tuna, Teriyaki chicken, vegetarian and more. These guys are incredibly popular so get there early and enjoy the beautiful scenery around the lake.

Inside options at Sussex include the Surf Club, serving up a lovely Mothers Day option with the Grazing Gals Café baking a traditional roast pork (yes, with apple sauce) and a choice of desserts, for the fantastic price of $30. Tickets are still available, if you are really leaving it to the last minute.

Speaking of cosy, the team at Vincentia’s Albert N Miso have made a Hamper for 2 available for Sunday for $85, which you can order via email, albertnmiso@gmail.com. Or dine in at High Tea, 2 hours for around $60 per head, including live music and the option to add a glass of bubbles. Online booking is available.

If you fancy venturing a little further beyond the Bay and Basin, here’s a few venues definitely worth the Sunday drive.

Alongside the Shoalhaven River, we love Ponte Bar and Dining, and they are offering two lunch sittings for Mothers Day at $90 ($30 for kids under 11), 10 Wharf Rd, Nowra. Book online to add on some extra Mothers Day gifts which will be placed on the table prior to your arrival – candles, choccies and flowers are among the choices.

Up-river a little further is fine diner, Bangalay Dining Shoalhaven Heads, 30 Staples St. Treat mum to a mouthwatering breakfast or 2-course lunch with sides for $85. Executive chef Simon Evans always creates a memorable menu and this one is no exception. (Regulars at Bud’s Tavern in Husky will know that Simon has a big hand in the bistro offering there, too.)

Head south to Ulladulla at Cupitt’s Estate, 58 Washburton Road for a choice of three-course lunch or dinner in the main restaurant, or a table in Dusty’s Garden Bar. There are very limited tables available as we type this article. This Sunday, there will be live music from contemporary blues band The Stayers 12:30 to 3:30pm.
