A big handful of Husky businesses are sustaining the local community, with takeaways, click & collect books, and eye-smiles behind masks in the eerily quiet village. They are the heartbeat of Husky during lockdown.

Locals out walking their dogs and kids along the foreshore boardwalk are supporting small business along the way

While several popular restaurants have decided to close while the lockdown restrictions are in place, some other businesses have turned to online as a way to carry on.

Buy bamboo fashion online

Bamboo fashion retailer Jay on the Bay is now online selling its range of women’s and men’s fashion, homewares and best of all, a great selection of socks. We particularly love these bamboo yoga grip socks, perfect for all the online mat classes during lockdown.

Support local artists and makers

The Collective Beat, the place to buy art and crafts from local artists and makers, has launched an online store across all the represented sellers from its 3 stores on the south coast (including the one-year-old shop in Huskisson). Art prints from Rachel Murray Design and hand-made dog treats are among the eclectic wares on offer.

Click and collect a new read

Boobook on Owen book shop is offering 7-day click and collect from their shopfront from 10am-12pm. The window displays have a fantastic range to inspire you, and proprietor Noela is deeply knowledgeable and always ready with a recommendation. We recently picked up the latest novel by Aussie writer Debra Oswald, The Family Doctor. When lockdown is over, we are also looking forward to browsing the beautiful locally made jewellery in Boobook. Check out their Facebook page for suggestions, reviews and more.
