FRIDAY 23 MAY: Dine around the world this weekend, with a few tickets still available for Sardinian and Persian feasts as part of the Autumn Celebration of Food, plus a sensational choice to make for Thursday night.

Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre’s Head Chef, Matt Fleming, and Events Coordinator, Leah Foley, bring dining to the stage in Behind the Curtain Thursday 29 May

Persian Plates at Little Eadie’s $80

Head to Sussex Inlet on Sunday evening, 25 May for an authentic Persian dinner served family style at Little Eadie’s Café in the heart of the village. Chef Shayan Mostaghim is drawing on his family heritage for a splendid selection of aromatic dishes that will transport you to the spice bazaars of the Middle East.

Sardinian Experience at Peter & Eva

Book a table for lunch from 11am or dinner from 5pm on Sunday to enjoy a menu inspired by chef Eva’s home island of Sardinia in the Mediterranean. Choose from a range of dishes reflecting the flavours and hospitality of Sardinia.

The Battle for Thursday Night – two options

The weather forecast looks to be dry and mild for Thursday 29 May, which is the night for no less than three spectacular dining events on the Autumn Celebration calendar.

Battle on Burton $95

Which is good news (the weather, that is) for the Battle on Burton – the second annual collaboration between two of Vincentia Shopping Villages fine chefs, who go head-to-head in a six-course feast across the village square, from 6pm. Your ticket includes a canape, main and dessert from each kitchen plus a beer or bubbles on arrival (there will be a cash bar on the night).

Behind the Curtain $110/$150

Dine with a different outlook at the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre, where chef Matt Fleming and venue manager Leah Foley have literally set the stage for you. This will be an unforgettable dining event, read our story about how it works, and book your seat on stage for 5.30pm Thursday 29 May.

Attend a Tea Masterclass with legend of the leaf, Mark Thirlwall, part of the Autumn Celebration of Food this season.

Tea Masterclass $45

Tea afficionado Mark Thirlwell really knows his aromatic leafy subject matter and can speak about tea as passionately and eloquently as a sommelier. It’s impressive and informative and will change the way you view the humble bag of dried matter that we dunk without a thought. Spend a delightful afternoon with Mark at KV Coffee Co (behind The Hive) in Kangaroo Valley on Thursday 29 May from 3.30pm.

Extra Dates Added

Eat the Invaders – a lunch that will change the way you see invasive species in Australia – has added two more dates, Saturday 31 May in Kangaroo Valley and Sunday 1 June in Woollamia. Read all about the concept in our story and book your seat for lunch.

Plan Ahead

Pop this one in your diary – the Burger Battle on Sunday 16 June at Husky Sports, where the carpark will become the battle ground for the best burger, as voted by you. We will bring you more on this event, and “Discover the Streets of Huskisson” events coming up in June, in our next newsletter.

To win dinner for two at Sandbar Restaurant’s Middle Eastern Dinner on Saturday 14 June, enter our competition.
