Friday 6 December: Back by popular demand, Chef Egi from Blue Nami will be preparing sushi tacos this Friday and Saturday evenings at the Sushi Martini Club in Huskisson – aka Jervis Bay Coffee Co by day.

Fresh local kingfish will be the star of the menu, along with hand-made sushi rolls like the Spiced Up – with a centre of crispy tempura prawns, fresh salmon, cucumber and seared spicy sauce.

This Friday is a Double Act Back By Demand with the legendary local blues-rock band The Howlers! Join them on Friday evening for their acoustic set featuring original songs and incredible covers. Lead singer Larry will have you up dancing.

Also on the menu, the popular Rainbow Roll of fresh tuna, salmon and kingfish with avocado and Kewpie mayonnaise, or the Seared Salmon Nigiri with their signature sauce seared perfectly, and Veggie Tempura Roll for a veg option.

Sit back and sip on one of Simon’s martinis and nibble on edamame tossed in a little butter, a pinch of salt, fresh garlic and slivers of chilli.

Book a table online through the Sushi Martini Club Facebook page, 6pm-9pm.

Wild Ginger Happy Hours

You will find plenty of venues that celebrate happy hour, we decided to pick one of our many favourites this week, Wild Ginger on Owen Street Huskisson, and share why we think you should drop in for a social bevy.

Our locals love Friday happy hours at The Ginge, but it’s not just on Fridays. Wild Ginger also have Happy Hours daily from Wednesday to Sunday, 3pm to 5pm.

Pair your favourite beverage with something from the bar snack menu, priced at $13 each, such as vegetable spring rolls with satay sauce and toasted almonds, chicken dim sims with a sweet delicious dipping sauce, crispy pork belly on beetle leaf with chili jam and toasted almonds, smoked trout on fresh beetle leaf with Thai basil mayonnaise, and if you like a little spice in your life, try their coconut-crusted salt and pepper squid with Sriracha mayo.

They also offer $15 cocktails, we highly recommend their Ginger Espresso Martini (vodka, Frangelico, espresso) or the Green Patch (muddled cucumber, lime, gin, peach, and ginger beer). If you’re in the mood for a margarita, you can’t go wrong with their classic or a passion fruit version, but our favourite is always the fresh chilli marg on the rocks.

This stylish restaurant and bar has a chic coastal vibe inside. They have tables out the front where you can people-watch the main street and a new booth in a prime location and large oval stone table seating five to six people comfortably.

There are still a few slots available for your Christmas party, ask at the bar.

We know their home-grown mussels are always sweet, plump and versatile. Try steaming on the BBQ or making them the star of a crowd-pleasing seafood paella. If you’re feeling extra creative, try stuffing them with a mediterranean mix of rice, diced onion, tomato, capers and lemon zest. Their Mussel MAP Packs ensure the freshness.

Prawn lovers are in for a treat with their tiger prawns, available cooked, raw or frozen. Try a homemade cocktail sauce and a pinch of smoked papirika.

If you love  a raw prawn on the barbie, try it with garlic butter, herbs, squeeze of lemon and a splash of white wine. Whether fresh or frozen, they’re the perfect addition to any festive spread. We love to keep prawns handy in the freezer, you can buy them raw or cooked in 3kg boxes.

For oyster aficionados, their freshly shucked options are nothing short of spectacular. The Sydney rock oysters boast a clean, briny flavour with mineral undertones, while the Coffin Bay pacific oyster have a little more firmness to their flesh, with a creamy sweetness.

Pre-order (only) lobster, crabs, bugs and whole fish, and do all your seafood shopping in one spot. Pre-order cut-off is Tuesday 17 December, and pick-up of orders is available Christmas Eve.
