Indulge in a new yum cha experience at AK Dragon Malaysian Restaurant in Huskisson on weekends 11.30am to 2.30pm from 12 July till the end of August, and relive the glory days of the dumpling trolley!

Weekends in Huskisson just got a little more delicious with the launch of yum cha at AK Dragon Malaysian Restaurant – the first of its kind in Jervis Bay. Every Saturday and Sunday throughout July and August, it’s a more relaxed take on the classic, offering the perfect excuse to slow down and graze your way through lunch.
Inspired by Sydney’s traditional trolley-style service, this version features a smaller-scale approach with one charming trolley making the rounds, while the rest of the ordering happens from a printed menu at your table. It’s all the yum cha nostalgia, minus the chaos.
The menu features entree style finger food, a well-rounded mix of steamed and pan-fried dumplings sourced from a yum cha specialist including classic small plates. Think BBQ pork buns, prawn and chive dumplings, crispy spring rolls, pan-fried gyoza, custard tarts and mango pudding. Vegetarian options are thoughtfully included, and there are a couple of gluten-free choices too (ask for the options of the day).
Prices range from $6 to $14.80 depending on the dish, making it an easy and affordable way to mix, match and share.
“It’s casual, it’s affordable, and it’s meant to be fun,” says chef and owner Alex. “We wanted something locals could enjoy on the weekend without it being too formal. Order a few favourites, try something new and take your time.”
Whether you’re craving a long lunch with friends or just curious to try something different, this is a cosy new addition to your winter eating plans.
