There are limited tickets still available for a few of this weekend’s stellar events in the Autumn Celebration of Food. We have put together a shortlist here to help you make those last-minute bookings, including lunch with Sardinian chef Giovanni Pilu or lunch made from invasive species at Eat the Invaders – it’s more delicious than you can imagine! Plus reservations to make for the coming weeks.

This Sunday: Giovanni Pilu and the Chefs of the Shoalhaven, $130

This Sunday, indulge in a long lunch with a room full of hospitality’s finest, plus support the great work of TAFE and the Shoalhaven Food Network in providing vocational training for young people on the South Coast. The “Gaining Through Training” staff will be among the chefs and servers on the day, working hard to create a memorable experience for all. The menu, designed by Sardinian-Australian chef Giovanni Pilu and prepared by a stellar lineup of chefs, will be a celebration of local, seasonal produce. This Weekend: Eat the Invaders, $95

Two lunches – Saturday 17 May in Kangaroo Valley and Sunday 18 May in Woollamia this weekend – will convince you to think about food from a completely different point of view. It’s a tough choice on Thursday 22 May in Huskisson, with two of the tiny town’s best restaurants hosting Autumn Celebration events.

Seafood at Sandbar, $80

Host John Nixon and Head Chef Jason Wilkinson have teamed up with the finest seafood providers in the South to present a showcase of six courses. On the plate will be produce from PhycoHealth’s seaweed range, Jim Wild oysters, Jervis Bay mussels and lobsters, plus a selection of locally caught estuary and deep-water fish. The evening will include insightful talks from local experts and a chance to learn more about the region’s seafood industry. Book online.

Thali at Taj, $55

This is absolutely the best way to experience the flavours created by Chef Arron in the Taj Indian kitchen in Huskisson, with a selection of dishes he has chosen to take you on an authentic journey through the senses. While there are meat dishes on offer, there are also many vegetarian choices that are an essential part of dining at this local favourite. Includes a drink on arrival.

Persian Plates at Little Eadie’s Sussex Inlet, $80

Little Eadie’s is more than a local café, it’s a hub for the foodie community in Sussex Inlet, run by couple Cassie and Shayan who established the eatery almost two years ago. For the Autumn Celebration, they are hosting two Persian dinners, on 25 May, 6pm $80. Persian Plates will transport you to Iran, via aromatic spices, marinated stews, aromatic rice and delicate sweets. The homeland of Little Eadie’s owner/chef, Shayan Mostaghim, is rich in culinary history. The three courses and sides will be served family style, ending with traditional Persian sweets and chaii (Persian tea) to take home.

Traditional Sardinian Experience at Peter & Eva Huskisson

Experience the authentic flavours of Sardinia with a specially curated menu of regional specialties, served in a warm and festive atmosphere. Book for lunch or dinner on Sunday 25 May to indulge in the rich flavours and traditions of this Mediterranean island. Book a table online, lunch from 11am or dinner from 5pm.

Filipino Feast at Bud’s Tavern Huskisson, $70

Monday night 26 May will be alive with authentic Filipino flavour at this 80s-inspired establishment, Bud’s Tavern on Owen Street Huskisson. For $70, enjoy an incredible three-course menu of mostly gf dishes. Chef Curth and his team have a line-up of Filipino Mondays greatest hits. Served family style, the dishes are placed in the centre of your table for sharing. We love the wagyu beef skewers with peanut sauce among the entrees, and a Filipino-Spanish fish dish, Escabeche, among the main courses which is cooked with rice vinegar, banana ketchup, coconut sugar and pomegranate seeds. Finish with a Mango Bango. Bookings are highly recommended to secure a table.

Behind The Curtain in Nowra, $110/$150

On Thursday 29 May, take a seat on stage at the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre, for a dining event in four “acts” created by multi-hatted chef Matt Fleming and drawing on his classic French training. Read our feature story about this unique way to dine, and book your table online.

Bay Bites & Brews Huskisson, $55+bf

The finest producers in the Woollamia business zone have collaborated on a showcase of their expertise across four delicious courses. The dream-team for the evening of Saturday 31 May at Jervis Bay Brewing Co is Kraken Sourdough, Jervis Bay Mussels, 5 Little Pigs and PhycoHealth.
