Fine food and entertainment this week in Jervis Bay

In FOOD & DRINK, WHAT'S ON

The winter weather is not cooling down the dining scene in Jervis Bay – there’s so much to choose from this month, and more exciting treats coming soon (watch this space, we will keep you updated with new developments).

THALI NIGHTS Thursdays are Thali nights at Taj Indian Restaurant on Owen Street Husky this July, starting on 4 July with ”Chef’s Favourites” mixed thali – served on a traditional round platter, thali features a variety of traditional Indian dishes to share (dine in only). The restaurant has just reopened after some building maintenance and they are ready to warm up your winter with food prepared with love. Find details of what’s coming up on their socials and how to book via their website.

DINNER AT ALBERT N MISO Fridays and Saturdays in July are perfect for dinner at Albert N Miso in the Vincentia shopping village on Burton Street – if you haven’t signed up for their email alerts, do so now to get advanced notice of specials and how to book a table.

We are enticed by the sound of classic French onion soup and cheesy bread, or Korean-style bibimbap (rice with sautéd veg, kimchi, marinated beef strips and a fried egg). Menus are changing every weekend so watch their socials to see what’s coming.

ART WITH A HEART Bid for a new work of art and contribute to a great cause this Sunday 7 July at Jervis Bay Brewing Co where six talented local artists will put their work into a silent auction – 50% of sales will go to support the Australian Maritime Conservation Society. Local legend and master painter Randall Sinnamon will be there on the day, swapping his schooner glass for a paint brush and creating a new masterpiece before your very eyes! If you’ve never seen Randall paint live before, you are in for a real treat.

Head over to the Husky industrial zone for this very special event.

ROLL OUT THE SUSHI… coming next week! Friday and Saturday nights will be extra delicious from 12 July with a pop-up at Jervis Bay Coffee Co – Sushi Martini Club from 5-9pm, Owen Street Huskisson.

Expertly-prepared fresh sushi paired with a variety of martinis, margaritas and more, will fill the gap in our hearts for these Japanese-style morsels. Here’s a photo to whet your appetite and stay tuned for more details next week…

XMAS IN JULY There’s no better time for a hearty “traditional” Christmas feast than in the chill of winter. Three local eateries have told us about their upcoming special events later this month, read our story for all the details.

POSTPONED … Bud’s Tavern and Old Salt have postponed their Argentinian dinner from Tuesday 9 July till 27 August, due to some kitchen logistics. If you had booked, you will need to re-book online.

A few other fun things … from our Editor

Get some fibre (art) in your diet this weekend with two fun textile & fibre events on not far from Jervis Bay.

Firstly the South Coast Fibre Muster is on at the Berry School of Arts from 10-3pm Saturday & Sunday 6 & 7 July. There will be displays from many of the fibre and textile groups based around the south coast including spinners and weavers, felt makers, and fibre suppliers.

On Saturday 6 July, a one-off “Seasons of Slow Stitch” day is on at the Shoalhaven Heads Community Centre, with artists, makers and suppliers all showcasing their specialties, from 10-3pm. Entry $25 includes edible treats and beverages.

Yours truly will be at both events, close to my heart as a felt maker and organiser of art/craft workshop events, Arts Muster – read all about those in this new story from Natalie McDonagh.
