The gentle sweep of the Bay and the classic colours of turquoise waters and pale sands fringed by eucalypts – this is the view to wake up to every day of your summer holiday.
Directly across the road from Huskisson Beach, this apartment faces east out towards the heads of Jervis Bay and the sunrise. The sheltered balcony is a perfect place for morning coffee (there’s a pod machine in the kitchen, BYO pods), with a spot of bird watching.
It’s a pleasant stroll into the main street for cafes, restaurants and shops.
The popular “round the bay” walking track runs alongside the beach, and it’s a pleasant stroll into the main street for cafes, restaurants and shops. Or head in the other direction for more stunning coastal views. The walk is fairly flat and paved all the way around to Nelsons Beach in Vincentia, where it becomes the White Sands Walk, more of a bush track that heads through to Hyams Beach. That’s a long way, so make sure you check the maps before you decide to venture all the way around. You can extend the walk from Husky wharf across to the Callala side of the bay, aboard the Husky Ferry, operating in daylight hours most days in summer.
The location of this holiday apartment is stunning, there’s no doubt about it.
But it’s also well-populated during the peak holiday season, so there’s always a steady stream of human traffic along the coast – starting with the early morning joggers, bikes and dog walkers. It makes for great people-watching.
The street itself is a no-through road although there is some parking out front so there’s a small amount of traffic seeking a convenient spot. The majority of the residences along here have parking at the rear via laneway access – including this apartment which includes 2 car spots – so you’ll never need to compete for a park.
There is a shower at the rear of the building, but to access it from the beach-side you have to walk through the foyer – there is no outdoor pathway from front to back – but it’s good to know the shower is there if you really need a rinse before heading back upstairs.
Once you’re inside the apartment, on level 2 of a three-storey building, the view becomes the focal point again, and the activity on the beachfront fades into the background. The balcony has angled louvres that minimise the sightlines into a neighbouring apartment’s balcony that is set back a bit further in the façade, thanks to clever design. There’s a generous dining table, a gas bbq and a pair of comfy chairs, to help make the most of the view.
The living/dining/kitchen is spacious and open, comfortable and well-equipped. The master bedroom and ensuite are right off the main living areas, which is ok if you’re the last ones to bed at night… the best part, though, is big glass sliding doors that open on to the balcony, so whoever sleeps in this room will be lulled to sleep by the waves and greeted by the morning sun.
The other two bedrooms are up the hallway, each with a small window facing the beach, which is a nice touch especially as it lets in the morning sunlight. The rooms are spacious and the main bathroom is a good size. There’s a lift and aircon in this modern building, so it’s suitable for everyone.
Yes, I know, I’ve mentioned the view, but I will mention it again. While there’s other holiday properties that have incredible views, only a handful combine that beauty with the easy access to the beach and a pleasant stroll into the heart of Husky village that makes this property an exceptional choice.
