Spring is in full swing here in Jervis Bay and there is plenty to do every day of the week. Here’s our highlights, we hope to see you out and about.

Special events

Beachside festivals are the best, and the Sand and Sea Festival this weekend in Husky has something for everyone. Sea sports on display include SUP, ocean swimming and beach netball, while the whole family can compete in sandcastle construction. There will be plenty of exhibitors, a pop-up bar and yoga on the beach too.

Boobook on Owen and Jervis Bay Coffee Co are co-hosting an author event on Sunday evening with Charlotte Wood, whose new book is Stone Yard Devotional. Enjoy her conversation with Richard Morecroft, a glass of wine and a grazing board. Tickets $15 from the bookshop.

Live Music

This weekend’s Sunday Sessions at Jervis Bay Brewing Co is local musician Will Chittick, known for his smooth vocals, the perfect way to wind up the weekend, from 4pm

Something a little different is happening on Saturday from 6pm at Choice Pharmacy in the Home Co mall, which is hosting a VIP sale event complete with live music and refreshments. Enjoy the sounds of the harp and violin, while browsing for Christmas presents.

Ease into the weekend at Sandbar in Husky with a happy hour cocktail and the lounge-style tunes of Dave Newman, Thursday evening.

Last minute getaway

Glamping specialists Paperbark Camp are offering a special this weekend, for last-minute bookings with no minimum stay. Spend a night among the treetops to revive and refresh, indulge in a wonderful dinner at the Gunyah restaurant, and partake in a peaceful paddle along the creek. The code is ‘lastminute10’ when you book online.

Arts and Culture

Local watercolour artist Anne Fry is giving a one-day workshop courtesy of the Shoalhaven Art Society. Learn the secrets of Anne’s Australian bush scenes, in one of the historic classrooms in the grounds of the Jervis Bay Maritime Museum. Members and non-members are welcome to enrol, tickets are selling fast so plan ahead now to avoid disappointment. Non-member tickets are very reasonable at $100.

The Shoalhaven City Council is looking for community members to join their Arts Advisory Committee, to represent the community’s aspirations for arts and culture in our region. Read the full description to see if you are a good fit.
