Jervis Bay is putting on a very special long weekend
The 26th January has rolled around again and this year it falls on a Friday, which means we have probably the biggest long weekend of the year. Jervis Bay Weekend has wrapped up the best of the best, such as where you can participate in a First Nations Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, to where you can hear the Triple J Hottest 100 countdown in style. Remember to stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, be sensible on the roads and look out for one another with kindness and respect.

The start of a long weekend to end the summer holidays with a bang. There’s plenty on offer this Friday, around the Bay and along the coast. We have a few top choices to recommend.
The annual Duck Derby races raise funds for the Jervis Bay Marine Rescue.
HUSKISSON The annual Duck Derby is shaping up to be another massive fundraiser for the Jervis Bay Marine Rescue, with most races sold out weeks ago. The family day at Moona Moona Creek Reserve starts at 9am, with market and food stalls, live music and Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony from Gadhungal Marring.

Take advantage of the courtesy bus running from HomeCo in Vincentia through to the main street of Husky. Check the Marine Rescue Facebook page for all the details.
Wander along to Husky Pub for more great music, and a mechanical bull. The Triple J Hottest 100 plus a DJ will ensure the vibes are on the right frequency, from midday.
MOLLYMOOK Head a little further south on the day for Beats and Eats at Mollymook Surf Life Saving Club, kicking off at 3.30pm with Aaron Clement on the beats, Phantom BBQ on the eats, and Mollymook SLSC on the bar.

Sunset Sessions at Cupitts Estate in Ulladulla this Friday features Hein and Ebony of Monday Lane, who will serenading with their acoustic melodies from 5-8pm. It’s a winery, so why not drink wine?
If you prefer your music spinning, start at Flamin Galah with DJ Nemesis from 5.30, and sample some fresh summer brews made right on the premises.
SATURDAY 27 JANUARY The DJs have it at the on Saturday too, with DJ Zanin from 4.30. The south coast local knows how to create a summer vibe, especially in a stylish beer garden.
Soak up an acoustic vibe with father/daughter duo The Family Jules at Serotonin on Currambene from 5-8.
For something more substantial for your Saturday, attend the Sorry Day micro festival featuring Caliko, Mayfair Lane and Sweet Sorrows at Tomerong Hall for just $25, hosted by ARIA winning Aussie singer/songwriter Paul Greene.
SUNDAY SESSIONS 28 JANUARY There’s no better way to wind down the weekend than listening to the best musicians that the south coast can rustle up. Jervis Bay Brewing Co consistently serves up a soft Sunday, this weekend it’s the wonderful lush vocals of Ness Quinn, from 4-7.
Cupitts Estate is the place for sunsets and smooth sounds of Leah Foley and Tom Henry of The Castaways, playing all pop, folk, country and blues classics from 12.30-3.30pm.
Then there’s the rooftop at Bannisters Pavillion in Mollymook, where you can soak up the coastal atmosphere and enjoy the tunes of Lux Trevis, from 5.
CULBURRA BEACH The big weekend takes on a different meaning for The Common South Coast which celebrates its first birthday with a weekend-long ‘festival’ of food, drinks, live music and entertainment. Friday will be extra special with food from Kings Porker BBQ and Dufoe band playing from 2pm. All the details on the Facebook page.
