Every day’s a Weekend in Jervis Bay

In WHAT'S ON, THINGS TO DO

Happy Valentines Day for all the lovers out there, we wish you all the happiness in the world. If you aren’t a ‘hearts and flowers’ kinda couple, perhaps you would like this doco on Bob Marley, playing tonight at the Huskisson Pictures. Bob Marley: One Love celebrates the life and music of an icon who inspired generations with his messages of love and unity.

What else can you get up to in JB this week? Read on for our staff picks, starting with some specials for the Foodies among us.

For Foodies

LAMB CHOPS It’s Bud’s birthday – the namesake of Bud’s Tavern – this Thursday 15 February and the Huskisson bistro is celebrating what would have been his 84th birthday by serving his favourite counter meal, crumbed lamb chops. The chefs have chosen fine cutlets from the Victorian Goldfields for this celebratory meal, hand-crumbed in-house for the occasion (some gf will be available). One of the proprietors, and Bud’s daughter Cathy says, “Bud was a hardworking, classic Australian man that loved getting his hands dirty and being in the bush. He always found himself at the pub ordering lamb cutlets and it became his favourite dish.”

Live Music

There are some wonderful gigs coming up at El Horses, in the atmospheric Bishops building in Nowra.

Post supported by Sampson, Thursday 15 February $25+bf. Post performs songs that are meditations on grief, love and constancy – piano glows gently, glitchy electronic basslines and 808s pulse and huge guitar riffs rip the roof off the thing. Sampson is a 5-piece Sydney Psych-Pop-Rock group hailing from the South Coast of NSW.

Peter Locke & the All-stars, Saturday 17 February $30+bf. Sway to the tight, swinging sound of the Peter Locke trio and special guest, John Morrison, who attain the ambiance of Nat ‘King’ Cole.
