Food and Wine Festival is Back, Baby

 In FOOD & DRINK

Dozens of wine producers, brewers, distillers, sensational food, a live music stage and even transport to and from the venue – this year’s South Coast Food and Wine Festival promises to be a sensational event, 13-14 October, Moona Moona Creek Reserve Huskisson.

After a triumphant post-covid comeback last year, locals and visitors alike are primed for another weekend of indulgence and entertainment. The list of exhibitors is stunning – we know this region excels when it comes to wineries, but I counted no less than eight – yes, 8! – distillers among the brand logos on the Festival website.

Take your shopping basket

I can’t wait to stock up on some of the specialty food items I discovered last year. One standout favourite at our place was Kielty’s Irish Sauces. Our local faves, PhycoHealth Seaweed and Jervis Bay Mussels will be there again this year. Some other intriguing logos on the festival website await discovery. Brazilian bbq, lobster, cheeses, Lebanese, Indonesian, Turkish… I will be skipping breakfast.

This year, the Nowra Farmers Market is hosting a series of Masterclasses, including cheeses, seafood, special sauces and cooking with craft beers and wines. Expert producers are teaming up with creative chefs to help you tease the most out of your flavoursome finds.

On the stage, local acts range from indie folk to classic rock tributes, supported by DJ Kingfisher. We can’t wait to hear Ness Quinn on Friday evening, and the Aussie Fleetwood Mac band, Running in the Shadows who will perform a big finish to the event on Saturday evening.

Plenty of transport options, plan ahead

The Festival bus service has your transport needs covered. The timetable – plus other helpful suggestions for alternative transport, don’t drink and drive – is posted on the Fest FB page. There’s plenty of fantastic accommodation available within walking distance of the Moona Moona Creek Reserve, including Holiday Haven caravan parks.

On Friday 13 October, the festivities run from 5pm-9pm, while on Saturday 14 October, things kick off at 11am, perfect for a wander around to find your lunch, wrapping up at 7pm.
